The versatile writer and playwright Willem Anker returns to the stage after ten years. A small town with an observatory on the hill beyond a dormant volcano is hit by a meteorite. A small crater between the spekbome in the garden. The pebble sings when you hammer on it. An astronomer researches gravitational vortices. Her young son has stopped talking. A composer making a soundtrack for a science fiction movie hears about the singing pebble and comes to stay with them to record the sounds of the landscape. Three people floating in the cosmos try to find each other. How do you make music for a spaceship? What happens when you step over that final threshold of the horison and slip into a gravitational vortex? Since Samsa-masjien, Anker’s multi-award-winning novels Buys: ’n Grensroman and Skepsel have been released.
A free theatre discussion is facilitated with the cast of Patmos and Die vegetariër on Wednesday, 27 March at 15:00 at the kykNET-leefarea (in front of the Absa Burgersentrum).
