Stef Bos: Bijna 30 jaar later

WITH Stef Bos SCRIPT AND DIRECTOR Stef Bos PRODUCER Vuurvlieg CC

Stef Bos visited Oudtshoorn for the first time almost 30 years ago. From the outset, this Dutch singer-songwriter wowed local audiences with his songs, singing and stories. Just like in the Low Countries, “Papa”, from his debut album Is dit nu later, was also particularly popular in South Africa. He further developed his South African ties with collaborations with artists such as Johannes Kerkorrel, Thandi Klaasen, Amanda Strydom, Koos Kombuis and Louis Mhlanga. He fell in love with African sounds, has had a home in South Africa for years and some of his songs are written in “Bos-taal”, as he referred to it in an interview – something between Dutch and Afrikaans. He still creates non-stop and tours regularly, but has not been on stage in Oudtshoorn for a long time. Bitterlief is the latest of dozens of albums he has released. He takes the audience on a journey with stories and music through this time in his life and his relationship with South Africa.
