WITH Winand Grundling (organ) and Johann Nel (narrator) SCRIPT AND PRODUCER Erns Grundling DIRECTOR Winand Grundling

Winand Grundling, award-winning organist and winner of three Kanna awards, improvises on the organ based on major historical events, including the Hindenburg disaster, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the moon landing, Nelson Mandela’s release, the Springboks’ first World Cup victory, the death of Princess Diana, the events of 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic. The beloved actor and voice artist Johann Nel narrates the then breaking news of the specific event, followed by the improvisation of well-known themes on the organ. This combination makes for an intense and emotional musical journey through our recent history, also emphasising the organ’s relevance as a "commentator" on major news events. A wide range of music is included – from classical to contemporary.
