Die bardo van Biko April

WITH Sjaka S. Septembir

At the end of the last century, Y2K predicts the end of the world. Biko April is 27 and he is down and out, yet determined to make it to the shores of his 28th birthday before everything perishes. His role models in the art world of Cape Town provide only limited assistance. In addition, the advice of his two alter egos, Jan Jakkals and Christiaan, is not exactly reliable. With love and suicide as the most important themes, the novel (sometimes surrealistically) exposes Biko's inner self and interweaves it with his struggle with depression, also his remorse about love, friendship and loneliness - and of course his great passion: To write.
