For those who encounter them, lunch boxes (kosblikke) can seem like part of an everyday ritual. What would happen if the food items inside a lunch box could talk? In school bags – between breaks – tension rises as it is debated what will happen when the lid is lifted. Christie van Niekerk's Kosblik introduces us to the academic boffins, the “Peanut gallery”, on a journey to investigate their hypothesis: Is food afraid of being eaten, or could there be something else that makes them even more afraid? Kosblik received several prizes and nominations at the Tygerberg Eisteddfod, the Parel Vallei Playhouse Drama Festival and the Montague National Youth Arts Festival, including for best director and best supporting actor.
