Sandra Prinsloo is outstanding in her portrayal of opera diva Maria Callas. Set in the 1970s, her performance captures the iconic diva’s swansong during the closing act of her life. Following its overwhelming success in Cape Town and Johannesburg, Terrence McNally’s Tony Award-winning play comes to Oudtshoorn. The production features vocal music by the talented trio of Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Vincenzo Bellini. The 2023 production, which coincided with the centenary of Callas’ birth, saw Sandra Prinsloo winning the Woordtrofee for Best Actress at the Toyota US Woordfees as well as Master Class being nominated for three Woordtrofees, including Best Production.
