Rooilug is a solo performance that tackles social issues and tells stories about the effects of domestic violence, the patriarchy, the rape crisis and discrimination on families within smaller communities in South Africa. With a child’s voice as narrator and numerous characters being played, it is sometimes comical, sometimes sad. In 2019, Jefferson J. Dirks-Korkee was nominated for a kykNET Fiësta for Rooilug, as well as a Woordtrofee from the Toyota US Woordfees for Best Production and Best Actor.
