Enter the Bo-Kaap version of Romeo and Juliet. Two families, divided by religion. A shared secret between a blissful father and a god-fearing mother, threatening to unravel amid maskavi conversations and the prospect of the imam’s arrival. Deception, love, desire and family discord reign in this comic whirlwind, where the unthinkable becomes a reality. Will family ties be strong enough to separate the lovers, or will tears stain the path of both families? It is a gripping story, where fate hangs in the balance in the colourful streets of the Bo-Kaap. Awarded three prizes at the SU Drama Department’s Première Theatre Festival: Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Technical Performance (set and costumes).
