Hendrik returns to his parents’ home for the first time in 15 years. The house is deserted and he decides to wait in the dark cellar – where he spent most of his childhood. The basement is empty, but the family’s secrets and history are tangible, buried in the house’s foundations. He plays with Lego, drinks, and waits. Three figures float in and out – his hardened sister, his fragile mother, and his vivacious girlfriend. As his drinking becomes heavier, ghosts of violence, guilt and addiction resurface. He is waiting for something to happen. Or for someone to find him. Awarded as Best New Afrikaans Script at Momentum Beleggings Aardklop in 2023 and nominated for three Woordtrofees at the Toyota US Woordfees in 2023.
