Leslie Kleinsmith is a well-established and much-loved cabaret and jazz performer that hails from District Six in Cape Town. Having honed his craft by studying masters like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis Jr. in his early years, Kleinsmith has gone on to become an established voice on the South African musical landscape. Over the years he has also become adept at various musical styles such as popular music, R&B, and big band swing. In Kaapse kabaret Kleinsmith teams up with award-winning contemporary Cape jazz pianist and musical director Ramon Alexander and his trio, to perform music and tell stories from his tenure with legendary pianist Tony Schilder, his lead roles in hit musicals such as the Ghoema musical, District Six and Guys and Dolls. Expect to hear more about the songs that regularly play on the airwaves of Cape Town and continue to delight audiences wherever he sings.
