Monsters is the transcript of an investigation. Two ten-year-old boys are questioned after the disappearance of two-year-old James Bulger in 1993. Before the performance begins, the actors draw lots to determine who will play which role. These roles are performed in turn in a reading style, with texts exchanged among the players at the beginning of each scene. Voluntary audience members are also included and asked to read a piece of text on stage. Michele Burgers (Die Manakwalanners and Vallei van sluiers) returns to the stage for the first time in years.
