Drawing as Movement

WITH Odette Graskie GALLERY Berman Contemporary

Drawing as Movement is an extension of a year-long project wherein I have drawn people during interactive drawing events. This has taught me about permission and the power-balances between those being drawn and their drawer; about play and intimacy. Drawing is a way to look more closely and to acknowledge the emotions I get to see of my participants in those fleeting moments.

My work extends the life of those moments, gives them movement and an existence into the present. It becomes relevant for the work to travel across the country, giving those threads of connection with people, further physical movement. The shapes and contortion of the paper installation changes form, a re-hanging but also a reconsideration. A moment to reflect, relook, redream.
